Why I don’t miss being in an MLM during the holiday season

Disclaimer: This is rant from a former sells representative. The goal of this article is not to disparage anyone. I am simply sharing my experience.

Does any of the look familiar to anyone?

I know, cringy.

One of my many Ditto orders

The wanting to get rid of the extra inventory they used to be garage qualified is real (if you know, you know).

Now you may be asking? Kathy, how do you know about all this?

Well, I have a confession to make.

Cartoon creative by author. Get your copy here.

I, too, was an Ambot.

Self-debilitating humor aside. Building a “business” in the multi-level marketing industry was one of the most stressful experiences I’ve had.

The reaching out to customers in hopes that they would be interested in purchasing overpriced items, only to find that they could find ones of equal or better quality for a lower price.

Or simply the feeling of not being able to fully relax and enjoy the holiday season with family without worrying about “falling off track” or “getting distracted from the goal”.

And what I mean by “goal” is the goal to get your upline to the next pin level, and usually through any means necessary, before the end of the month. Every month.

And lets not forget about the Christmas holiday PV parties. You know, the ones hosted by your upline. The goal was to create a list of people you want to buy products for. Bonus points if you have customer orders lined up and you want to create a gift basket.

But lets be honest, it was just another way for people to buy a load of products. Makes you wonder how many people actually “gifted’ those items to their loved ones in the first place.

OR

How many of them are about to get uninvited to the annual white elephant party because they’re bring a pack of vitamins as their gift for the 3rd time in a row!

It was claimed that participation to these parties are optional, but are they really?

Good forbid you didn’t want to get near the “heat.

What about you? Any experiences, funny MLM stories, or pet peeves.

Please feel free to share below. But if not, happy holidays and say no to MLMs!
